Inspiration Monday--Inspired by a FAIRYTALE!

Happy Monday morning to ya! If you are in the U.S., then you are probably celebrating Memorial Day like me! We took our little guy to Sea World for the weekend....to celebrate a great school year and Memorial Day....all in one!! :)

I'd like to say a special THANK YOU to all our servicemen & women...for protecting us, our country, and our many freedoms! My dad was a retired 1st Sargent in the Army so Memorial Day has always been a special day in our family. He passed away several years ago when my son was 6 months old. I wish my dad could have spent time with Isaiah now that he's 5....he would have loved it!

This week at La-La Land Crafts we have a challenge that I hope will have you thinking outside the box a little! This week our theme is:

INSPIRED BY A FAIRYTALE

I used to not be a cartoon kind of girl. Of course that all changed when Isaiah came around! Now it's nothing but cartoons and kid movies!! And, of course, one of my all-time favorite fairytale's is The Little Mermaid! I used the super-cute Mermaid Marci and handsome Prince Luka for my card today....they were so much fun to color up!

Copics:
Skin: E000, E00, E01, E11
Lips: R22
Hair: E09, R08, R05
Starfish: Y02, YR21, YR23, Stardust Stickles
Top: V12. V17, YR23, Y02, Stardust Stickles
Tail: YG11, YG17, YG25, YG67, BG53, BG57, BG70, Stardust Stickles

Prince Luka
Copics:
Skin: E000, E00, E01, E11
Hair: Black 100, C7, C5
Crown/Cape: BG53, BG57, BG70, C3
Shirt/Pants: YG67, YG17, YG25
Armor/Boots: C7, C5, C3

I also used some of La-La Land Crafts' AWESOME new DIES!! I tripled layered the Wave Border Die right below Mermaid Marci, and used the Island die from the Clouds, Sun & Island Set along the sides. These dies are sooooo versatile and they cut like butter! I run it through my Cuttlebug a couple times and all the little pieces just pop out.

The dps are Echo Park that were left over from another project. I embossed white cardstock with Cuttlebug D'vine Swirl and then rubbed Broken China Distress Ink over the top. The brown cardstock is embossed with Couture Creations Deep Sea Diver....perfect for that nautical theme!!

I also raised several elements on pop-dots for added dimension which you can see in this side view. :)

Now don't forget you can play along with our LLLC Challenges by linking up your cards/projects to the LLLC Gallery! These new dies are flying off the shelves so hurry to the LLLC Store and get yours before they sell out again!!

Have a great weekend and enjoy your family!

Hugs,
Rosie :)

Inspiration Monday-All A Flutter! (use butterflies)

Happy Monday to ya! Did you have a good weekend? Our weekend was busy celebrating my nephew's 16th birthday!! I can't even believe that he's 16 now!! I was there when he was born and used to rock him to sleep. Now he's 6'2" and 16, what in the world?!?!

We have another great LLLC Inspiration Monday Challenge for you!! Before we get to the theme, I just wanted to let you know that some of your favorite stamps and dies are back in-stock at the LLLC Store....so run, don't walk before they sell out again! :)

This week our theme is:

All A Flutter!
(use butterflies)

I used several of my favorite things from the LLLC Store on this card. First, I used the super, duper cute, Watercan Marci....I just think she's the most adorable thing ever with her sun visor, rain boots, and watercan. She's a set and comes with an adorable Bee and a couple sentiments. I used one of the sentiments...."Hi, Friend!" on my card below.

I also used our new DIES, Butterflies Set 1 and Clouds, Sun & Island.....and they are AWESOME! I LOVE them!!

Copics:
Skin: E000, E00, E01, E11
Lips: R22
Hair: E39, E37, E33
Flower: R89, R85, R83, R81, Y02, YR23
Boots: BG72, BG70, BG57, BG53, Y02, YR23
Watercan: G46, G28, G21
Hat & Dress: Paper-pieced & shaded with black chalk

Here's a closeup of the butterflies! I put the center heart back in with different dps so I could add CTMH pearls down the center. Both butterfly dies are shown (the middle one is the different one).

My dps are from MME Dolled Up 6x6 paper pad....so pretty! The mini roses are from WOC.

We would LOVE to see you link up your creations to the La-La Land Crafts Gallery. You can link up all your NEW LLLC cards and projects as many times as you like during the month. At the beginning of the next month, we'll choose one of the entries to be featured on the LLLC Blog and award a prize to....it could be YOU!

Have a great week! If you stopped by to visit, please leave me a comment so I know you were here. I love to read all your comments!!

The beautiful designer papers are from Bo Bunny Serenity 6x6 paper pad....love them! They go so perfectly with the Asian-inspired new release! The black pearls are from CTMH, along with the white pearls I used for Marci's earrings. The gold pearl swirls are from Recollections. I used my Spellbinders Labels 23 to cut the panel behind Marci and then added blue chalk around the edges. The black sheer sparkly ribbon is from Michael's Halloween Collection. The poppy is from Wild Orchid Crafts.

If you want to play along with us, please upload your creations to the LLLC Customer Gallery. You can link all your NEW LLLC cards & projects as many times as you like during the month. Inspiration Monday-Hey Girlfriend!

Happy Monday to ya! I'm so glad you joined me for another La-La Land Crafts Inspiration Monday!

The theme this week is:

HEY GIRLFRIEND!

You can make anything for a special girlfriend or even Mom for Mother's Day, which is just around the corner!! Hard to believe that it's already May, huh?! This year seems to be flying by....quickly!! Pretty soon school will be out and the start of summer break....I am excited about that! Just FYI: You might want to read all the way to the bottom of this post for a chance at some blog candy. :)

For this week's inspiration, the La-La Land Crafts Design Team is using stamps from the "Girlfriends" Collection. Did you even know there was a "Girlfriends" Collection?? Well, there is, LOL! And, although there aren't very many yet (key word is YET, hint, hint), they are wonderful to color up. Plus, some occasions just require an image that's a little more sophisticated, don't ya think?!

For my card today, I used this awesome stamp called Shopping Ally. She sooooo reminds me of me. I love to go shopping!! My poor hubby can attest to that, LOL!

Copics & Chalk:
Skin: E000, E01, E11, chalk for cheeks
Eyes: YG41, G00
Eyeshadow: E13, stickles
Lips: R85, R81
Hair: E49, E29, E25, E13
Shirt: RV21, R83, R85, YG41, YG45, G00, Stickles
Belt: Black 100, Stickles
Pants: G00, YG41, N2, N4
Shoes: Black 100, C7, C5
Clutch: R81, R83, R85, Stickles
Shopping Bags: E53, E55, Black Sharpie, R85, R83, R81, Inkssentials White Pen

Did you also see that La-La Land Crafts is NOW carrying exclusive DIES!!! I can't tell you how excited I am about these AH-MAZING dies!! They are.....well.....to die for, LOL! You can see the entire Die Release in the LLLC Store HERE. On my card I used the Eiffel Tower Die and the Filigree Corner Die. I run my dies through my Cuttlebug frontwards and backwards, which I did when cutting these and all the little pieces cut perfectly!! I am using fairly new plates so that may be why it cut so easily. If your plates are older you may have to run it through a few times or use a shim. But for me, they worked FABULOUSLY!! :) :)

The gorgeous Dps came from Collage Press Studio London Market, and the edges were distressed with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. The black cardstock, black pearls, and crystal swirls are all from Recollections. The cream lace and cream poppy are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the light pink ribbon is from Martha Stewart.

I used Spellbinders Labels 10 to cut out Shopping Ally and raised the panel on pop-dots.

I hope you enjoy our challenge this week! Don't forget you can get Shopping Ally and the NEW Dies in the LLLC Store! If you'd like to play along with us, you can upload your creations to the LLLC Customer Gallery.

If you've read all the way to the end of this post, then I have a little surprise for you! Leave me a comment here letting me know your favorite "Girlfriends" stamp and your favorite LLLC DIE and I'll do a drawing for a $20 gift certificate to the LLLC Store! You have until this Saturday, May 12th, 11:59pm (CST) to leave your comment.

Have a great week!
Hugs,
Rosie :)

National Scrapbook Day Challenge at CropStop!

In honor of National Scrapbook Day, we challenge you to a SCRAPLIFT!

This is a two week special challenge.

Today, May 5, 2012, is National Scrapbook Day. National Scrapbook Day was started in 1994 by Creative Memories and is celebrated on the first Saturday every May. Since 1994 paper crafters everywhere celebrate their passion for scrapbooking and other paper projects on this day. Who knows, maybe this will be a national holiday some day!! :)

To celebrate this awesome day, the CropStop Creative Team challenges you to scraplift one of our posted projects on the CropStop Challenge Blog. Choose your project, create your own version of it, and link it using the link tool at the bottom of the CropStop Blog Post. The winner will be chosen by random draw on May 20th and posted in the blog on Monday, May 21, 2012. Prize is a $20 Gift Certificate to the CropStop Store.

Follow these simple guidelines to qualify:

1. Enter a newly created project that scraplifts one of the pictured projects on the CropStop Challenge Blog.

2. Label your project with your name and link it using the link tool at the bottom of the CropStop post.

3. Give the name of the person/project that you have scraplifted in your blog post.

Challenge deadline is Saturday, May 19, 2012 at midnight, U.S. East Coast Time.

For my featured project I picked this 12-drawer Easel Card Dresser that I made at the beginning of my CropStop journey back in February 2011. You can see the original post HERE with a link to the original tutorial and my corrections to some of the measurements.

This dresser has an easel card attached to the top. 12 drawers is a bit much, but you can always just make one big drawer instead. :) I hope you find the time to link up your "Scraplifted" project to the CropStop Challenge Blog for a chance at a $20 gift certificate to the CropStop Store.

Have a great, crafty weekend!

Hugs,

Rosie
