Crafter's Companion~Kimono Lotus Flower

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you've had an awesome weekend so far! We've been having some severe storms in Texas. Friday we had a tornado warning and ended up in our coat closet under the stairs. There was an F1 tornado that passed through our town and fortunately missed us. Today we have more severe storms rolling in so I'll be a nervous wreck later this evening. Please keep us in your prayers for sure!

Crafter's Companion USA recently released a new Kimono Series of stamps, dies and embossing folders! They are all so gorgeous!! I can't wait to purchase them!! Today I used a stamp set called Lotus Flower. She's stamped on Spectrum Noir Premium White Cardstock and colored with Spectrum Noir Markers.

 Spectrum Noir Markers:
Skin: FS1, FS2
Red: CR7, CR9, CR11
Umbrella: EB1, EB2, GB8
Black
Gold Sharpie Paint Pen
Molotow White Paint Pen

I found some Oriental paper in my stash and used it for inspiration to color my image. I just made 5 small circles with CR9 to form the petals. Next, I came in with the black to color the rest of the shirt. Next, I outlined the petals with the gold paint pen and then added white circles to the middle of the flowers. The sentiment is also from the same Kimono Lotus Flower set.

Be sure to check out the Crafter's Companion Blog for all sorts of inspiration by my fellow DT Sisters, and to see some of the new products coming to the store! And don't forget to check out the Crafter's Companion FB Page for even more ideas!

Have an awesome week!

Little Miss Muffet Stamps~Candy Floss Crew PIPPA

Little Miss Muffet Stamps
Happy Saturday everyone! Yesterday we had some bad weather roll through with an F1 tornado. We were really nervous and hid in the coat closet under the staircase. I'm a big scaredy cat when it comes to bad weather. Living in Oklahoma has me terrified of wall clouds and tornadoes. I thought moving to Texas we wouldn't have to worry so much. But now I'm thinking we need a storm shelter....ASAP!!

Last week, Little Miss Muffet Stamps introduced a new line of stamps called the Candy Floss Crew! I LOVE them all!! They are so awesome!! I decided to color up this cutie girl name Candy Floss Crew Pippa. Isn't she adorable?!! She's printed on Spectrum Noir Premium White Cardstock and colored with Spectrum Noir Markers.

Eyes: TN3, EB3
Hair: TN3, EB3, EB8

My dps are from Echo Park Anything Goes 6x6 Paper Pad. Both sentiments are from Mama Elephant Make A Wish Clear Stamp Set. The circle around the sentiment was cut out using By DIEzyne Dies Double Circles.

Yesterday started a new challenge on the LMMS Challenge Blog. The theme is ROUND IN CIRCLES! I hope to see you all participating! Also, be sure to check out the LMMS STORE to get some amazing stamps and dies!

Commemorating ANZAC Day at Make it Crafty

Tomorrow is a special day in Australia called ANZAC Day. I've included some history of ANZAC Day below. You can read more about it HERE. To commemorate this memorial day Zoe at Make it Crafty has offered these beautiful poppies and sentiment for FREE in the Make it Crafty Newsletter. If you received your newsletter this morning, we hope you join us by coloring these poppies and posting your creations to the Make it Crafty FB page

 Spectrum Noir Markers:
Red: DR3, DR4, DR5, DR6, DR7
Middle of poppies: CT1, Black
Green: LG3, LG5, JG6

The sentiment is also FREE in the MiC Newsletter. I kept my card pretty simple. The black cardstock in the background was embossed with Anna Griffin ROSE 5x7 Embossing Folder. The ribbon and pearls were in my stash.

What is Anzac Day?

Anzac Day – 25 April – is one of Australia’s most important national occasions. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.

What does ANZAC stand for?

ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. The soldiers in those forces quickly became known as Anzacs, and the pride they took in that name endures to this day.

Why is this day special to Australians?

When war broke out in 1914 Australia had been a federated nation for only 13 years, and the new federal government was eager to establish its reputation among the nations of the world. When Britain declared war in August 1914 Australia was automatically placed on the side of the Commonwealth. In 1915 Australian and New Zealand soldiers formed part of the expedition that set out to capture the Gallipoli peninsula in order to open the Dardanelles to the allied navies. The ultimate objective was to capture Constantinople (now Istanbul), the capital of the Ottoman Empire, an ally of Germany.
The Australian and New Zealand forces landed on Gallipoli on 25 April, meeting fierce resistance from the Ottoman Turkish defenders. What had been planned as a bold stroke to knock Turkey out of the war quickly became a stalemate, and the campaign dragged on for eight months. At the end of 1915 the allied forces were evacuated from the peninsula, with both sides having suffered heavy casualties and endured great hardships. More than 8,000 Australian soldiers had been killed. The Gallipoli campaign had a profound impact on Australians at home, and 25 April soon became the day on which Australians remembered the sacrifice of those who died in the war.
Although the Gallipoli campaign failed in its military objectives, the Australian and New Zealand actions during the campaign left us all a powerful legacy. The creation of what became known as the “Anzac legend” became an important part of the identity of both nations, shaping the ways they viewed both their past and their future.

We hope you take some time to reflect this weekend on what's important to you.
Hugs,
Rosie

Crafter's Companion~Party Paws BAMBOO

Crafter's Companion
Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you had an awesome day today! We just spent a relaxing day at home which equaled crafty time for this momma. Weekends tend to fly by so quickly lately. I can't wait for summer vacation to start so every day feels like the weekend. :)

Today I'm showcasing one of my fave panda bears from Crafter's Companion USA called Party Paws-Bamboo. He's stamped on Spectrum Noir Premium White Cardstock and colored with Spectrum Noir Markers.

 Spectrum Noir Markers:
Bamboo: IG5, IG8, IG10/IG1, IG2, Blender
Flower: BP2, BP3, BP7, CT3, GB5, GB7, CG3, LG5, JG4
Butterfly: BT2, BT4, BT5, BP3, EB3

If you know anything about me then you know I'm a "collector" of dies....well actually all things crafty, but dies are my fave, haha! One thing I love are the look of border dies along the edges of my cards. What I've found is that I can pretty much use any die to make my own border die. For this card, I used Die'sire Essentials Dies-Beautiful Butterflies. I cut a strip of cardstock the length of my card. Then I adhered the bottom of the butterflies to the top of the cardstock strip, and glued it to the top of my card. The sentiment is from the Bamboo Set. The dps are from different paper pads. The ribbon is from Walmart. Those gorgeous flowers are from I Am Roses.

Be sure to check out the Crafter's Companion Blog for all sorts of inspiration by my fellow DT Sisters, and to see some of the new product coming to the store! And don't forget to check out the Crafter's Companion FB Page for even more ideas!

Have an awesome week!
